About MKN
MO-KAN-NE is the 3-state chapter of the Mid-America Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (MAEOPP), one of 10 regional associations in the United States that form the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE).
Our Purpose: MO-KAN-NE (MKN) seeks to create a community of like-minded advocates among educators and other interested persons in the three-state area. Specifically, our purpose is to increase accessibility to, and success in, postsecondary education among students who are less likely to enter and succeed in college due to socioeconomic or ethnic background, physical or learning disability, and/or limited cultural or educational experience.
MKN pursues this purpose by creating concerted opportunities for:
- direct communication among individual members and member institutions.
-
research on relevant topics.
-
conferences with members and other associated and/or appropriate persons.
-
promoting professional standards in the field.
-
promoting public awareness of issues important to our constituents.
-
quick, informed, and meaningful responses at state and national levels to educational issues affecting our constituents.
-
educating state and national leaders to our purpose, importance, and impact on the lives of our constituents.
-
maintaining regular communication among members through the MKN newsletter.
How YOU Can Help:
- Become a member. Annual dues are $60 for active professional membership in both MAEOPP and MO-KAN-NE. TRIO professionals from Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska who join MAEOPP are automatically MO-KAN-NE members.
- Renew your membership. To ensure that your membership continues without interruption, renew your membership promptly each year.
- Volunteer your time and energy by active committee participation. Start with your MKN association and build your skills towards the regional MAEOPP association.
- Recruit and Reclaim. Network with peers,
seek the assistance of a role model or mentor, meet your colleagues at other
institutions, exchange ideas, and share experiences
